News: New Trojan Malware targets older Android version

With “GM-Bot” Malware not done terrorizing the world of Android phone, another malware had been discovered that potentially inflect damage to Android-base smartphones. This new Trojan malware is targeting any Android smartphones to risk about 60%.

Those Android smartphones running 4.4.4 or the earlier version of the Android OS will have greater risk. This kind of malware propagates on application that user downloaded or install from the untrusted sources.

The name of this new malware is “Triada”, which is a windows-based malware in terms of complexity, according to Kaspersky.

According to a junior analyst of Kaspersky Lab named Nikita Buchka, “It is stealthy, modular, persistent and written by professional cybercriminals. Triada operates silently, meaning that all malicious activities are hidden, both from the user and from other applications. These apps can sometimes be found in the official Google Play app store, masquerading as a game or entertainment application. They can also be installed during an update of existing popular applications and are occasionally pre-installed on the mobile device.”

Kaspersky, tells that about eleven known mobile Trojan malwares uses a root privileges. The three of them includes Ztorg, Gorpo and Leech, which are cooperating to each other. Smartphones that are infected on these malware are organizing to make a network, which will create an advertising botnet to threat user to install different kind of adware.

According to Buchka, after the android smartphone had been rooted, those Trojans (above-mentioned) will then download and install a backdoor. After that, it will download and activates two module that have abilities to download, install and launch applications. Also Buchka, added that this type of Trojans will use a Zygote process to implement the code in context in all apps in that particular Android.

When the Android smartphone is being infected with this type of Trojan malware it is very difficult to get rid of this.

Once the Android smartphone is infected, it will penetrates on almost running processes and thus continues to exist at memory only. Those all running processes that are infected with Trojans will be hidden to user and other applications. This means that, detection and removing of this Trojans via antivirus will be very difficult.

The most effective solution on this problem when being infected is to a complete wipe or to do a reformat of the Android device.
