Confirmed: No Android Marshmallow's "adoptable storage" feature; both Samsung Galaxy S7 lineup and LG G5

Samsung and LG, finally unveil their latest flagship smartphone at Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, they are both run on the latest Android Marshmallow. As we know, Android Marshmallow have a feature called “adoptable storage”, where a microSD card will be adopted by the system to act like the internal storage.  And, both Samsung Galaxy S7 and LG G5, have expandable storage feature, and yet this day, a confirmation that both this new smartphone will not support the “adoptable storage” feature of Android Marshmallow.

This feature seems to be cool but the problem is that, this require the memory card to be formatted first and to be encrypted, then after that, it will now act as an internal storage. And if the memory card is now adopted, you cannot remove it from the smartphone (but physically, you can remove it but it is not recommended). That’s the reason why Samsung did not support that feature on their smartphones.

"Samsung decided not to use the Android Marshmallow 'adoptable storage' model. We believe that our users want a microSD card to transfer files between their phone and other devices (laptop, tablet, etc), especially the photos and videos they shoot with the camera."

"With adoptable storage, first of all the card may be erased the first time it is inserted into the device. This behavior may be unexpected by many users and we don’t want our users to lose their files. Second, once Marshmallow starts using a card for adoptable storage, it cannot be read by other devices, so it loses this ability to be used for file transfer."

"Adoptable Storage is also primarily targeted towards emerging markets where devices with only 4-8GB of onboard storage are common. We think that our model of using microSD for mass storage is more in-line with our owner’s desires and expectations for how microSD should behave", according to Samsung.

This news is already been confirmed by Samsung in their booth at the MWC2016, which this could be a bad news for those in Europe and U.S. consumers, who like lots of apps and games, because only 32GB variant will be available in that region.
