MWC 2016: Samsung unveiled their new flagship smartphone ; the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge


Samsung’s latest creation, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge just got unveiled, their latest flagship smartphone. Samsung did that few hours ago prior to the opening day of Mobile World Congress 2016. This new smartphone is been in the headlines since last month with rumors, leaks and news. This new smartphone fits the philosophy of Samsung “no compromise”, which means that Samsung will give their user a beautiful product, on the other hand not worrying on about dropping it in water or shattering it.

The new Samsung Galaxy S7 will have a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display while the Galaxy S7 Edge will have bigger screen with 5.5 inch Super AMOLED Quad HD display, both will have a resolution of 2560 X 1440. As for the processor, the U.S version will have the Snapdragon 820 paired with 4GB or RAM. Both this smartphones have 32GB or internal storage as a base that can be expandable via micro SD up to 200GB of memory.



The battery of Samsung Galaxy S7 will have 3000 mAh (much bigger than the Galaxy S6), while the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will have 3600 mAh, both this smartphones supports fast-charging together with wireless charging.

This new smartphone features also a metal finish with 3D curve glass back and an “Always on Display” allowing you to see the calendar, date, time and notification. Other specs includes, Bluetooth 4.2 version LE, ANT+, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5GHz) and a USB 2.0



The new smartphone uses the microUSB support instead of USB Type-C, which according to Samsung “it was not the right time to bring it to our mobile products.”

For the camera, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will have first dual-pixel sensor, together with 12-megapixel back camera, this means that this new smartphone have ability to capture twice amount of information and it focuses quickly, also have improve face-detection focus capability. About 100% of pixels will be available for the image capture and auto-focus, which Samsung tells that it will eliminate the blurry photos.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge have an advanced camera system that features a super-fast autofocus and have an ability to be used in anytime of the day or night. This new smartphone have brighter 1.7 lens and image sensor with 1.4 µm pixels, this allows you to capture sharper and excellent image, even with limited light around.

In addition about new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, during playing a game, there is ability to screen the game itself, share a video of the game play via Twitch, A Do Not Disturb Mode, and many more. Buttons of this new smartphone can be locked now. The user of Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 will have ability to control the frames per second for better performance.



This new smartphone supports Samsung Pay, which it have 5 million people using it. Also, it supports NFC and MST. For Security, Knox is pre-installed for those user that bring their smartphone to their workplace.

For the color, Samsung Galaxy S7 will have black or gold while Galaxy S7 Edge will have a Black, Silver and Gold option.


For the Pricing, major carriers have already price this new smartphone, T-Mobile tells that Galaxy S7 $669.99 ($277.92 per month) while S7 Edge $779.99 ($32.50 per month). AT&T, Galaxy S7 $23.17 per month and Galaxy S7 Edge $26.50 per month. Verizon has not yet release the official price. Best Buy tells that Galaxy S7 will be $199 and Galaxy S7 Edge price $299, with two-year contract.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge will hit major U.S carriers on March 11th. The preorder will be starting this February 23rd. For those early buyers, they will get a free Gear VR when they purchased or preorder this new smartphone from February 23rd to March 18th.


The new Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is not a reinvention of their approach on mobile technology, but it more like on upgrading and refined those problems that previous Galaxy series have.
