MWC 2016: Mediatek announced their new chip; "Helio P20"

Today, smartphones become a 4th necessity in our lives, we use everything we do. In the past, smartphone were being used as simple mobile communications unit and simple emailing. To do this, smartphone are made up those technology that could do the task we want. One of this is the processor or the chip. Consider to the most important part of smartphone, as it will be the brain of it.

In the latest news, the Taiwanese tech Giant “Mediatek”, announced their latest chip, which is a low-power processor on the Helio line chip. The name of this new chip, “Helio P20” which the upgraded version of “Helio P10”, this new chip are 25% more efficient, also it will boost 20% more performance and have a capability to support up to 6GB of LDDR4X memory.

Mediatek’s new chip “Helio P20” is 16nm processor together with 8 ARM Cortex-A53 64bit CPU, the cores are clocked up to 2.3 GHz, and ARM Mali-T880 GPU which is clocked at 900MHz. This GPU have a capability to power two displays on 1080p resolutions at 60fps.

For the connection, Helio P20 supports LTE Cat.6 connection, which it a capability to reach download speed of 300Mbps and can upload up to 50Mbps.

Helio P20 can support dual-sim cards and a sensor that can support up to 24-megapixel camera, dual phase-detection autofocus and image noise reduction technology.


According to the Taiwanese tech giant, Mediatek ; smartphones powered by Helio P20 chips, begins shipments at the second half of this year.
