Today, Google just released a
preview about the upcoming Android N via developer.android.com/preview. Also,
in addition for that, Google also will release today a Beta for Android N which
can acquired via over-the-Air updates but only Nexus devices can have it.
This upcoming Android version is
expected to be launch at I/O developer conference, to hold on May 18 -20, as to
the previous unveiling date of the Android version in the past.
The preview of the Android N
shows an updated SDK with system image for testing the official Android
emulator, also for the following Nexus devices; Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X,
Nexus, 9, Nexus player and Pixel C.
Android N’s preview today, shows
the following API and features, this includes:
Direct Reply Notifications - this
new feature will make user to reply a message without leaving the notification
shade. This API input originally came from Android Wear.
Bundled Notifications – a same
app could have a group notifications via the use of
Notification.Builder.setGroup method. Using a two fingers, this new group
notification can be expanded.
Multi-Window – this feature will
allow the screen to be splitted in smartphones and tablets, also it can be
specify the size of the dimension of the smartphones or tablets.
Doze feature – in Marshmallow,
Doze is a feature that will able to save battery if the smartphone is in
stationary or not use. As for the Android N, this is also have similar
function, if you have already Doze app from the Marshmallow, no need to do
anything.
Improved Java 8 Support – this feature
will help to reduce the boilerplate code. Also it will enable the smartphone to
use features such lambdas, default and static methods, streams and functional
interfaces.
Project Svelte – this feature is
on development stage, this will reduce the memory taken when running a background
app and so that many Android device could run many app background without
compromising smoothness.
Google release this preview of
Android N not for daily use. It will be updated “often” during the stage of
developer preview. Android team, invites many Android user to try it before the
final release of it.
With the release of preview of
the Android N today, surely many Android user will test this new Android version
and many features of it looks promising. Hopefully, this new Android N have
improved security in the operating system itself because lately, Malwares are
currently attacking Android OS.
