Today, is LG’s unveiling day for their
upcoming flagship smartphone, the LG G5 together with other device. As to the
news last week, that February 21, will be their big day for LG. LG G5 is LG’s
hopes to take other rival flagship smartphone, such Samsung Galaxy S7 and Apple’s
iPhone 7.
With the success of its previous
smartphone the LG G2, LG was not able to continue its success smartphone when
they release the G3 and G4. The South Korean Tech giant, LG have a massive shift
on their strategy to smartphone with their new flagship smartphone, the G5.
The G5 finally have a full metal
body, also LG chosen to have modular design, where there is ability to add new accessories,
such “hi-fi player, digital camera and many more”. This phone features also an
ability to swap battery, expand the memory and other new modules.
LG G5 had 5.3 inch Quad HD
display at 554 ppi. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820
SoC paired with 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable
via micro SD card. Also, the battery is 2,800 mAh that can be remove. It runs
on the latest Android Marshmallow.
For the camera, LG have two
rear-facing cameras; the first camera have a standard 78-degree lens, while the
second one have 135-degree wide angle lens. The front camera is an 8-megapixel.
Also, LG G5 have an “Always-on
Display” feature, where you can check the time and battery life and
notifications without waking the smartphone. According to LG, the display’s
backlight only illuminates a small part on the screen, which it uses about 0.8%
of battery per hour.
Other specifications, include a
USB Type-C 2.0 port compatible to USB 3.0, an NFC, WiFi 802.11 a, b, n, ac and
a Bluetooth 4.2. LG G5 weighs 159g and measures 73.9 mm in width, 149.4 mm in height.
The available color for this smartphone are Titan, Pink, Silver and Gold.
Modules that LG revealed today
for G5:
*Hi-Fi Player: This a portable
player which is developed together with B&O Play that supports 32bit,
384KHz high-definition audio playback. This additional module can be used in G5
as an additional module or even in separate Hi-Fi digital audio chip (DAC)
connecting to a different smartphones or PC.
*Cam Plus: This type of camera
can be attached via battery slot which “deliver a comfortable grip and
excellent control of a DSLR”. This camera offers an auto-focus, exposure lock,
also it provides physical buttons to power, record, zoom and shutter. Also, it
will provide an additional 1,200 mAh battery power to G5.
The focus on this day is about
the LG G5’s expansion slot, but is this enough to have an edge with the other
counterpart, such Samsung Galaxy S7, to be unveil in just few hours, and Apple’s
upcoming iPhone 7.
