A latest report from The Electric Outlet, which is a South
Korean News, says that Apple have made an agreement to Taiwan Semiconductor
Manufacturing Company (known as TSMC), that they were only company to make the processor
to be used by the next iPhones. Both Samsung and this company have shared in building
the processor of Apple’s current flagship smartphones, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S
Plus.
Based on this report, TSMC got an edge to their rival
Samsung in taking the job in making the processors for the upcoming iPhones,
thanks to a 10-nanometer manufacturing technology. Apple is expecting that TSMC
will go on full production of this next-generation processor, to be called “A10”,
this coming June. And Apple’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the iPhone 7 will
be expected to launch around September.
The partnership of Samsung and TSMC have been in
controversy, because TSMC is the one to be assigned in the production of
processor, the A8 chip in the previous iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, then Samsung came
back to have some portion of the production on the processor, the A9 chip of
the current iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
Since, the launch of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, many owners
of this smartphone, noticed a performance difference, a TSMC-made A9 chip, on a
benchmark and video test, shows that it run cooler and offer more battery life
than a Samsung-made A9 chip.
There is another controversy about this, on what way that
Samsung is been able to win the A9 production for Apple. A former TSMC research
and development have revealed a secret about this technology to Samsung, so
that Samsung could catch up and win on the A9 chi production, according to the
Taiwanese Court investigation.
